What does this ATS checker look for?

Applicant Tracking Systems filter resumes before a recruiter reads them. Our checker runs 18 checks across four categories:

  • Contact information (4 checks): name, email, phone, location, LinkedIn URL
  • Content quality (6 checks): professional summary, action verbs, quantified achievements, bullet point count, keyword density
  • Formatting (4 checks): consistent date formats, standard section headings, appropriate length, no special characters
  • Completeness (4 checks): education section, skills section, work experience entries, overall section coverage

A score of 80+ means your resume is well-structured for most ATS systems. Below 60, there are likely issues that could cause your resume to be filtered out.

Methodology: These checks are based on common ATS parsing requirements documented by major providers (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday) and widely accepted resume best practices. The scoring weights reflect the relative importance of each factor in typical ATS evaluation. No automated checker can guarantee compatibility with every ATS, but following these guidelines significantly improves your chances.
